Photoshoot with Sylvaine Poitau
I was lucky this week to be part of a photo shoot with a talented and acclaimed local photographer. Sylvaine Poitau – whose work spans over a decade and has covered the likes of BAFTA – arrived on behalf of NWES, supporters of local business and enterprise in Norwich. I had never been professionally photographed before, and was both excited and unsure that my web-cave could play host to anything photogenic.
The Photoshoot Experience
As it happens, the whole experience was a joy. Sylvaine arrived in the middle of session between myself and Victoria from Dazed Photography. Being a photographer herself, Victoria was used to the light box and tripods, whereas I quickly fazed out the intermittent clicks and flashes. The three of us spent the best part of an afternoon mulling over websites, photography and the local sights, with Sylvaine snapping away at the opportune moment. The results felt effortless and authentic; whatever a photographer’s technical skills, the crucial factor seems to be making the subject feel comfortable and at ease. Sylvaine is no exception, and the results show in her work.
I’ve no idea where or in what form the photos will end up, but I know NWES are undergoing a bit of a revamp. Fingers crossed they mount this web designer on the front window, grinning at passers by in the Norwich market. In any case, I thank them, Sylvaine and Victoria for making all this possible.
