This colourful startup called on me to develop their website on a tight deadline. A partnership from Birmingham, Element Hospitality provide South American cuisine, staff hire, cocktail entertainment and food delivery, as well as a promising travelling food stall. Supported by the Prince’s Trust, they are exactly the kind of small business I like to work for: creative, colourful, with a love of their craft that fuels the work.
Having drawn up rough sketches of their own, I could see that Element already had an appetising style; the fiery orange palette and lavish photos shout food at first glance. With this brief, I went about designing a catering website that complements their Brazilian, Argentinian and Chilean flavour of cooking. Top to bottom – from navigation bar and image editing to menu design – I gave the site a South American twist whilst not detracting from the text content.
Having just emerged from the World Cup in Rio, and looking ahead to the Olympics, it has never been a better time to celebrate South American cuisine in the hospitality industry. A start-up of Element’s ilk should fare well as they serve clients across Birmingham and the West Midlands. I wish the owners, Edward and Michael, all the best in their business as they take it to new and flavoursome levels in 2015. Should I pass by the West Midlands, I’ll make a pitstop at Element for a bite of Cachaça Flank Steak.
