Session Musician, Arranger and Teacher
George Millard is as an old pal, so this was fun to work on from the outset. Like many twenty-somethings, he required a website to broadcast his creative services – in this case saxophone and music teaching services. What struck me about George was his innate eye for design; font pairings, colour matches and use of space were requested just how a designer would use them, yet George’s suggestions were made out of intuition. Good on you, George.
Session Musician Website
Despite the wonders of speakers, a musician website does not rely on sound as its first impression. We all know the tedium of noise inexplicably blaring from our browser; the music should be optional for the viewer, subtly tucked away but accessible to those interested (in George Millard’s case, we used his existing Soundcloud player in an iframe). Instead, we wanted to convey music through visual means. Primarily a jazz and classical musician George’s look needed to be clean, crisp and spacious, much like a recording studio.
Simple But Sweet
This isn’t the BBC Website; a simple landing area + three static pages do just fine. George is easy to contact with a nice clear form, while the bio gives a flavour of his long list of accolades.
