Since her previous website had gone online some years ago, Sula’s music took a creative shift. The new site, like Sula’s music, had to be sleek, ethereal and minimal. Using wonderful photographs from Brune Charvin, Sula Mae’s new website has a spacious, breathable layout. The onus is on the artist, not the content, while fans can still navigate around and get what they need from the various pages.
As I’ve discussed before, a musician’s website is the unbranded, unfiltered culmination of his or her output. It speaks to the fans directly and without interruption from banner ads and social networks. Sula Mae’s website – with its tour diary, blog, photo galleries and newsletters – does just that. She can log in as she pleases, change the visuals, put out new content and update her gig listings for the season.
Sula is a terrific writer and performer. I wish her all the best, and look forward to hearing her grace the BBC radio waves very soon!
